Culture
Reinforcing normative action in the field of culture, Protecting cultural diversity and promoting cultural pluralism and intercultural dialogue. UNESCO’s role as a cluster office for culture in countries of the Near East is very important considering the fact that this is an area rich with culture and heritage. Preserving heritage sites is one of UNESCO’s main goals and many of its projects in the cultural sectors focus on that. The Beirut office aims at preserving, protecting and promoting culture in countries of the near east. Through the various projects UNESCO implements it works on promoting dialogue and contact amongst the various cultures to ensure respect to other cultures and understanding of cultural diversity. UNESCO also contributes in enhancing the linkages between culture and development through capacity-building and sharing of knowledge.
